- Screening of the movie „Wilkołak” directed by Adrian Panek as part of the series of the Cinema of Genre Anxiety at the Octopus Film Festival 2019. *
The film takes place in the summer of 1945. For the eight children liberated from the GrossRosen camp, a makeshift orphanage is created in an abandoned palace among forests. Their guardian becomes a twenty-year-old Hanka, also a prisoner. After the horrors of the camp, the heroes slowly regain the remnants of a lost childhood, but the nightmare quickly returns to them. In the surrounding woods, camp wolfhounds circulate. Released by the SS before the liberation of Gross-Rosen, famished and feral animals surround the palace in search of food. In terrified children the camp instinct of survival starts.
Werewolf is the first Polish racial horror for decades. The film was awarded two prizes at the Gdynia Festival for directing and music and two at the prestigious Black Nights Film Festival in Tallinn.
