Materializing Feminism

We live in a time when all areas of life are permeated with capitalism. Against the impositions of the capitalist logic of exploitation, one's own self is constantly being optimized and individual strategies of solution praised as freedom.

Simple promises of freedom are also presented in parts of feminism and sound all the more promising the less the capitalist structures are questioned. At the same time, inequalities in society are increasing and women are still the ones who provide the majority of caring and thus are excluded from liberal promises of freedom.

Against this backdrop, the publishers and authors of Materializing Feminism argue for a materialistic feminism and, as a result, for a critical examination of economic, social and political conditions and current developments.

Materializing Feminism makes feminist critique of economy and society visible, deals with its practices and counter-strategies and invites one to think further.
