Ostrava is again becoming the epicenter of contemporary musical creativity. New and Experimental Music Scenes After _Ostravské dny_ lurs fort the tenth time appear as authors and workers who open up new music scenes and bring extraordinary experiences. Between August 22 and 31, the festival will sing a unique post-industrial space of the Moravian-Silesian metropolis, concert halls and cathedral.
Ostrava Days Festival is focused on contemporary classical music, whether it be avant-garde, experimental, or otherwise risk-taking. This year, again, many significant composers and new music ambassadors will come to Ostrava, be it Chaya Czernowin, Isabel Mundry, Miroslav Srnka or Christian Wolff, just to name a few. Festival program features world premieres of compositions written directly for the Ostrava Days, pieces by young and emerging composers next to the “big names”, electronic music or sound happenings: everything interpreted by top-class soloists and conductors, an international chamber ensemble Ostravská banda, an international symphonic orchestra ONO / Ostrava New Orchestra, Canticum Ostrava (mixed choir) and ensembles from Canada and Austria.
10th biennial of Ostrava Days Festival takes place in Ostrava, Czech Republic, from August 22 till August 31, in venues such as Triple Hall Karolina, Lower Vítkovice Area, Jiří Myron Theatre, Cathedral of the Divine Saviour or Michal Coal Mine.
Neither working in a mine, nor listening to the contemporary music is really an easy task. Ostrava loves both and is proud of that.
