Opera Masters Songs
Programme: Selected songs and cycles by Giuseppe Verdi, Vincenzo Bellini, Richard Wagner, Giacomo Puccini and Georges Bizet.
There are composers everyone has inherently associated with a certain genre. Some of them are linked to opera in this way and their other works are often overlooked. For this concert, the Lieder Company Prague has chosen works by these masters, who, thanks to their relationship with singing, were also concerned with art song genre in their work.
In addition, 2023 marks the 210th anniversary of the birth of such composers: Giuseppe Verdi (1813–1901) and Richard Wagner (1813–1883), as well as the slightly less significant anniversary of Giacomo Puccini (1858–1924). The song works of all of the above are certainly worthy of attention. In addition, this concert will be performed by soloists from the National Theatres in Prague and Brno, which undoubtedly promises an exceptional evening. Soprano Jana Sibera has been recently awarded by the Thalia Award for 2022.
The songs will be performed in the originals and accompanied by Czech subtitles.
