Octopus: Torso

Torso is probably the most famous film in Sergio Martin's oeuvre – it is a short, compact and suspenseful giallo about a murderer killing the most beautiful students of the University of Perugia, enriched with great music of the De Angelis brothers and excellent cinematography by Giancarl Ferrand. From today's perspective, however, Torso is not only one of the most interesting representatives of the genre, but also a film that laid the foundations for another famous current – the American slasher. The fast pace of killings, the profile of the audience and Torso's style herald the later excesses of such celebrities as Jason Voorhees, Freddy Krueger and Michael Myers. Giallo Sergio Martin is not only great entertainment, but also an important title in the history of genre cinema.
