Octopus: Synowie Danii

Screening of the film "Sons of Denmark" directed by Ulaa Salim as part of the New Movie Cinemas cycle at the Octopus Film Festival 2019.

In the near future, after the bomb attack in Copenhagen, Danish society is leaning towards the nationalist party, personified by Martin Nordhal - a politician who builds his capital in based on anti-immigrant moods. The protagonist, Zakaria, a young refugee from Iraq, decides to join the radical Arab organization to deal with the growing sense of threat. Sons of Denmark is perhaps the most current and politically involved title in the program of this year's Octopus. Debuting in full length Ulaa Salim, who is also the son of immigrants from Iraq, he talks about the growing wave of nationalism and the dangers of all forms of radicalism. The grim thriller filmed by him is not only a perfect and suspenseful title, but also a deliberate, shocking commentary on social problems that are currently growing in many countries.
