Screening

Screening of the movie "In Fabric" directed by Peter Strickland as part of the New Genre Cinema cycle at Octopus Film Festival 2019.

When Strickland spun the seemingly brutal horror of "Berberian Sound Studio" he did not include in it a single scene of murder or physical assault. In the erotic film he directed, "Duke of Burgundy", there was neither sex nor even nudity. "In Fabric" grows out of a similar way of thinking about the cinema. Somewhere at its base is a dark, immersed in the climate of the seventies, a horror story about a woman who buys a possessed dress from a somewhat shamanic, shamanic saleswoman. In Fabric, however, it is not a simple bogey, but a subtle, stylish and silk-like deconstruction of the genre, which already in the first scenes introduces viewers to its extraordinary world.
