Although a visit from the courier is usually a good omen, in the case of the young Hunter couple, it is the beginning of an unlikely story. When Frances, the wife of Peter Hunter, a young banker, places an order for Scandinavian glassware, she doesn’t expect to find pornographic material in the package to be delivered to their apartment above the bank where Peter works. The couple, fearing a moral scandal, together with their friend Brian, try to get rid of the obscene package at any cost. The matter is further complicated by the appearance of Eleanor – Peter’s mother, Mr. Bromhead – his boss, bank inspector Mr. Needham, Paul – a police superintendent, and… two ladies of light morals.

No sex please, we’re British is a British farce written by Alistair Foot and Anthony Marriott, masters of the genre. It was performed nearly 7,000 times from its premiere, which took place in London in 1971, until 1987, when the title was taken off the stage. In 1973, the play was transferred to the big screen. Both the West End and the film starred some of London’s biggest stars. No sex please, we’re British is a classic of the genre. The structure of the script gives both the actors and the director considerable room for manoeuvre. The mixture of improbable events, witty dialogue and fast-paced action will undoubtedly provide the audience with unforgettable entertainment.
