Neonschwarz
Neonschwarz is a German hip-hop band from Hamburg.
Captain Gips and Johnny Mauser published in 2010 the download album Neonschwarz, which was shortly thereafter indexed by the Federal Examination Office for youth-endangering media because of the track Flora, which according to the officers encourages violence. The album also includes the song On a Journey, which the two rappers recorded with vocalist Marie Curry. A video for this song was filmed and released on YouTube. The video was successful and they decided to continue working together. Neonschwarz was founded and the band signed with Audiolith Records.
In 2012 the Extended Play Unter'm Asphalt der Strand was released. The video for On a Journey was once again released under the band name Neonschwarz, in addition to videos for Heben ab and The Rain. Heimat im Herzen was also released as a live video.
In 2013 followed a split single with rapper Kobito. In the song In your city, the new crew member Spy Ypsilon was introduced for the first time. On September 19, 2014 their first album Fliegende Fische was released and on May 6, 2016 the second album Metropolis, which reached # 81 of the German album charts.
Neonschwarz make hip hop with left lyrics in the tradition of Anarchist Academy. They sometimes call the music "Zeckenrap". The band combines elements of pop music with harder electronic passages. While Captain Gips rather comes from the hip-hop corner, Johnny Mauser is more of the backpack rapper. Marie Curry is less a rapper than a singer.
