National Zoological Garden Bojnice
National Zoological Garden Bojnice is the oldest and most visited zoo in Slovakia. It was opened to the public on April 1, 1955. Its current area is 41 hectares, more than half of which is the exhibition area. The zoo complex is located in the recreational environment of the spa town of Bojnice. National Zoological Garden Bojnice is the only state zoo in the Slovak Republic, its founder is the Ministry of the Environment of the Slovak Republic. As part of its activities, it displays live exhibits, breeds endangered species of animals, has an educational impact on the public in the area of the environment and biodiversity protection and manages the national detention center for seized and impounded animals. The experts actively cooperate with CITES authorities and the State Nature Conservancy.
