The complex of buildings is a fragment of the former Löw-Beers textile factory complex, which has a historical connection to the Gross.Rosen concentration camp branch, which was located in the northern part of the site in the 1940s. Schindler's Ark was a concentration camp in which 1200 Jews from the Schindler's List were rescued. Schindler's Ark was stolen by the Nazis from the Low-Beer family in 1938. In 2019, the Low-Beer family consolidated the collapsed factory and established the Ark Foundation in collaboration with the local community.

The Survivors' Museum is designed with students from five countries and will open in 2025. The museum building is now equipped as a museum for survivors. The project wants to link permanent digital education and virtual education to a specific place. The universality and recognisability of the local story is adapted and translated to be accessible to 22 million upper secondary school students in European countries.
