Muzeum Českého krasu

Muzeum Českého krasu (The Museum of the Bohemian Karst) in Beroun uses the premises of the Jenštejn House from the beginning of the 17th century.

The individual expositions of the museum are dedicated not only to the Bohemian Karst Protected Landscape Area and the world-famous geological area of Barrandien, but also to the history of Beroun and its important personalities.

The history of the museum begins in 1888, when the Museum and Public Library for the People of Beroun was founded. The basis of today's extensive museum collections, as in many other cases, were mainly objects exhibited in 1895 at the Ethnographic Exhibition in Prague, which were then donated to the museum by their owners from the Beroun district.

Branches of the Museum of the Bohemian Karst are the Municipal Museum in Žebrák, with exhibitions devoted to the history of the town and its prominent natives, and the Hořovice Museum with exhibitions devoted to the history of the Brda forest, the local production of metal objects (stud-making, enamelware) and the past of the local museum.
