The Historical Museum

The Historical Museum, one of the seven branches of the City Museum of Wrocław, collects and makes available artefacts connected with the history and art of Wrocław. Its headquarters—shared with the Museum of Medallic Art—is the baroque-classical Royal Palace with its garden. Between 1750 and 1918, it was one of the residences of the Prussian rulers of the Hohenzollern dynasty, who extended it several times, giving it the character of a refined royal residence.

Since 1926, it has served as a museum. After extensive renovation in recent years, it has become a modern exhibition centre. The rich collections of the City Museum of Wrocław are presented in the permanent multimedia exhibition 1000 Years of Wrocław. The exhibition is complemented by royal chambers and an original baroque room tiled with Delft-style ceramic tiles.
