Museum of Icons in Supraśl

The Icon Museum in Suprasl is a branch of the Podlaskie Museum, established on the premises of the Orthodox monastery in Suprasl, which has a tradition of over five hundred years. In the collection of the Podlaskie Museum there are ca. 1,200 icons. A large part of this collection is made up of icons seized by customs officers during attempts to smuggle them into Poland from across the eastern border, which were handed over to the museum after legal proceedings.
