Museum of Art in Žilina

The Museum of Art in Žilina was established in 1976 by becoming independent of the Považské Museum. Since the beginning of the 1990s, the gallery's exhibition program has focused primarily on the presentation of current art with overlaps into the art of the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. The dramaturgy of the plan primarily offers exhibitions of new media, for example: installations, video art, site - specific art and at the same time classic media: painting, sculpture, graphics, or a poster or photography. In the exhibition spaces of the gallery, there are exhibitions of works by established Slovak artists - personalities of Slovak fine art and at the same time artists of the younger generation. An important part of the plan is also the annual curatorial projects in which several artists participate.
