MUD
The Museum of Art and Design Benešov (MUD) was founded in 1990, and under the name The Gallery of Fine Arts, served the public as an exhibition hall, an open studio and a “mediatheque”. Since 2015, the town of Benešov has been managing the gallery, but the significance of MUD goes beyond the framework of a regional institution that enriches the life of the city and its surroundings. Each collection of design, paintings, sculptures, graphic design, photographs, drawings and graphics share a focus on Czech art from the 20th century to the present. The museum’s most notable collections come from the art historian Jiří Šetlík, the extensive inheritance of the painter and graphic artist Zdeněk Kirchner, and the collection of Czech and Slovak design.
