Faust

Czech artist, surrealist and film director Jan Švankmajer translates the Faust myth into a grotesque parable about human capability to succumb and resist manipulation. Petr Čepek shines in the role of an „ordinary man“ who accepts the rules of a strange game and goes through an alchemist initiation to transform himself into both Faust and Mephisto. The world around him takes on a form of puppet theatre – Faust can see it's strings and guts, but isn't capable to escape it's magical embrace.
