Dubbed an “urban Western,” Dogman takes place in an Italian suburb somewhere between metropolis and wild nature. Marcello, a small and gentle dog groomer, finds himself involved in a dangerous relationship of subjugation with Simone, a former violent boxer who terrorizes the entire neighborhood. In an effort to reaffirm his dignity, Marcello will submit to an unexpected act of vengeance.
The project kept in the drawer of Gomorra’s creator for more than twelve years is a relentless operatic work about the banality of evil and the inner conflict of a man that became a scapegoat and an offender, a martyr and a perpetrator.
Marcello Fonte received critical acclaim for his performance in Dogman and was awarded Best Actor at both the 2018 Cannes Film Festival and the 31st European Film Awards.
