About Mor Karbasi
Mor Karbasi carries many worlds. It is so important for our “siesta” understanding of music, where the different traditions of the globe are interwoven, they see in themselves, they learn from each other. The artist’s father is of Persian origin, the mother’s ancestors are from Morocco. Sam Mor was born in Jerusalem, where the family had settled down before the generations. Her grandfather was a respected rabbi, a Kabbalist, and her grandmother was chosen by the community for the mekonenet, a kind of “weeping” that bade the dead with traditional songs.
