A series of lectures in which famous paintings will be the starting point for reflection on the fashion of the period in which they were created, as well as on the role and meaning of clothes in a given representation. The talks will concern the canons of beauty, the places where fashion and luxury objects were created, as well as how symbolic and significant fashion objects have been over the years. 

Lecturer: Aleksandra Jatczak-Repeć, PhD – a graduate of the Institute of Art History at the University of Warsaw. Since 2010 she has been running a studio of History and Theory of Fashion in the Department of Fashion, Faculty of Design, Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. She initiates interdisciplinary workshops and realizes inter-institutional projects (regularly with the Paris Opera, the National Museum in Warsaw). She has also been a guest lecturer at, among others: Royal Academy of fine Arts in Ghent, Fort Institute of Photography, SCEKU and others.  In 2020, at the Faculty of History of the University of Warsaw, she defended her doctoral dissertation, entitled Postmodernism in the Fashion of the 1970s. Stylistic pluralism and changes on the global fashion market, with particular emphasis on the situation in Poland" under the supervision of dr hab. Anna Sieradzka, prof. UW. Curator of exhibitions: i.a. Niebezpieczne ujęjęcia. 100 years of fashion photography in Poland (Institute of Photography Fort, 2019), Tactilis - exhibition of textiles and drawings (PKO Bank Art Foundation), Chapeau bas. Exhibition of hats from the collection of Adam Lej, (Academy of Fine Arts Warsaw), Filmowo mi... - Polish film posters from 1945-1969 and Stefan Norblin - versatile artist, (Poster Museum, Warsaw). Consultant for projects in the field of fashion history, e.g. Polish edition of Christian Dior's autobiography or Adam Mickiewicz Institute's multimedia guide on the history of Polish fashion. Author of scientific and popular articles in the field of art (published in, among others: L'Officiel Polska, Elle, Polityka, Monitor Magazine, Bluszcz). She has held a number of foreign scholarships, expanding her knowledge at the best Parisian (Ecole du Louvre, Sorbonne) and London universities (Central S. Martins, London College of Fashion, Victoria & Albert Museum).
