Michal Prokop Trio
Michal Prokop Trio, also known as Nu-Trio at the time of its founding, was formed in 1987 by the union of three long-time musical friends and bandmates, Michal Prokop, guitarist Lubos Andrsht and violinist Jan Hruby. From the very beginning, it was a different project in terms of repertoire and expression from Prokop's time in the rock band Framus Five, with a much larger share of improvisation, although the basic structure of the setlist was unchanged over the years.
As a result of the unexpected loss of Luboš Andršt in 2021, the remaining members decided to continue their activities. They invited the guitarist Pavel Marcel, former producer of the more recent Michal Prokop & Framus Five albums, to join them. There was no doubt about Marcel's talent and that he could worthily replace the genius of one of the best Czech guitarists, Luboš Andršt. So they continued the activities of the original Trio, but with the change in personnel, the repertoire was also partially changed. It can be said that the Trio took on a new dimension with Pavel.
To the rhythm of guitar and singing of Michal Prokop, Hrubý and Marcel take turns in solos, showing their extraordinary art. Every listener will find his or her own here. They will hear blues, rock, pop and elements of jazz. As fans and regular visitors to Michal Prokop's concerts already know, this is not an acoustic version of the Framus Five programme. It is a completely separate program. However, the repertoire also includes some notorious hits such as Blues o spolykaných slovech (or Čmeláčci). Considering the planned new album of Framus Five, which should be released next year, we can look forward to hearing some completely unknown hits not only during the concerts of Framus Five, but maybe also in the acoustic version performed by the Trio.
