Cycle of Polish-German online meetings with experts from the publishing and bookselling industry
The Goethe-Institut in Warsaw, the Polish Book Chamber and Frankfurter Buchmesse are organising the sixth panel in a series of Polish-German online industry meetings, where experts from both countries discuss current issues intriguing book market participants. The online mode will allow you to ask questions, which the experts will be happy to answer. The topic of this meeting will be _Will traditional bookshops become a thing of the past? Examples of promising solutions for local bookshops in Poland and Germany will be presented.
Both speakers are professionally involved in the book trade. They will talk about modern, future-oriented solutions, which they apply in their businesses – in traditional bookshops on the one hand and in online bookshop on the other. Osiander Bookstore is a traditional family business from Southern Germany and one of the largest chains of stationary bookstores in Germany, which successfully maintains its position on the German book market by cooperating in the field of e-commerce with the Thalia chain. On the other hand, Taniaksiazka.pl is one of the largest online bookstores in Poland. It is currently developing a network of stationary book collection points. The speakers will share with us their experiences, discuss the challenges and assess the chances for bookshops – places of live contact with books – not to disappear from urban landscapes.
