Merope, although consisting mostly of members from different countries, cannot be easily categorized as a Lithuanian band. However, with its focus on the singing and kanklės (traditional Lithuanian instrument) skills of Indrė Jurgelevičiūtė, the collective showcases the influence of Lithuanian folk music within the realm of experimental world sounds. Merope's distinctive atmospheric style combines electronic, ambient, indie, and traditional elements, creating a sonic landscape that is simultaneously rooted in local traditions and universally appealing.
