Masarykův domov mládeže
On the facade of the home on Cihlářská Street there is still the original name from 1930 – Masaryk's Student Home. Bohuslav Fuchs (1895–1972) was the author of this listed functionalist building, also known from modern architecture textbooks. The building is one of his most famous buildings and was built at the same time as many other functionalist monuments in Brno, including the famous Villa Tugendhat nearby. The home is located opposite the seat of the Supreme Court of the Czech Republic, within walking distance to the city centre, close to secondary schools (gymnasium, conservatory, business academy, school of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, construction). It accommodates girls and provides all-day meals.
