About Magda Navarrete
Navarette is a Warsaw-based vocalist, dancer and producer with Jewish roots; she calls her music the electro bolero. A lot fits into that “cubicle”, ranging from elements of the traditional bolero, flamenco and bossa nova, across quite remote music cultures, over to, as one half of the name suggests, electronic beats. Her contribution to the modernization of the bolero has been compared to the impact of the famous Gotan Project to the modernization of tango – certainly quite an accomplishment. The melodies from Andalusia taverns which Magda Navarette sings and to which she dances are covered with the sounds of traditional flamenco guitars, piano, synthesizers, and the drum kit. The concoction has been applauded at many European world-, ethno- and jazz music festivals; her own albums have won the favors of thousands of listeners. You are quite likely to become one of them.
