Lada
Lada is a Prague-based collective dedicated to interpreting folk music from the Moravian-Slovak border and various regions of Slovakia. The singers of Lada focus primarily on songs of a girly and feminine nature – love songs, wedding songs, grass-work songs, ballads, and others – and strive to interpret them according to the tradition bearers of folk culture, especially the older generations. The ensemble performs songs a cappella, accompanied by folk instruments (violin, viola, double bass), accordion, and occasionally the cimbalom. They approach their work with respect for the nature of folk expression and base their style and repertoire on the characteristics of the regions they select. However, the essence of Lada lies primarily in the friendly gatherings during rehearsals in Prague apartments and the joy of music.
