KMFDM + I Ya Toyah

German industrial rock/metal band KMFDM returns to the Czech Republic. The band will perform alongside singer I Ya Toyah on March 4, 2026, at Palác Akropolis.

KMFDM was founded in 1984 by Sascha Konietzko. The name is an abbreviation of the slogan Kein Mehrheit Für Die Mitleid (“No majority for compassion”) – often mistranslated as “No Pity for the Majority.” From its beginnings in the underground electronic scene in Hamburg, the band gradually worked its way up to become one of the pioneers of industrial music, combining harsh electronic sounds with metal guitars, heavy beats, and provocative, often politically charged lyrics. In the 1990s, especially after moving to the US, KMFDM also broke through on the American market. Albums such as “Angst”, “Nihil”, and “Symbols” became cult classics thanks to their energy, unmistakable mix of electronic, metal, and industrial dance elements, and distinctive visual presentation—covers by artist A. Tomić, known as Brute! KMFDM has never been afraid of controversy, whether in music, graphics, or public statements.

The band is still active today and has more than twenty studio albums to its credit. Their music is characterized by catchy but hard riffs, rhythmic samples, alternating male and female vocals, and an emphasis on energetic live performances. KMFDM has a devoted fan base around the world, and their mix of sarcasm, political commentary, and dance-metal energy makes them one of the most distinctive and longest-running bands in industrial history.
