Hanging, shooting, beheading, electrocution, gassing, suffocation, stoning, firing from an anti-aircraft gun. Methods of execution have been “perfected” over the centuries to make the execution as painless or spectacular as possible and to deter potential imitators of the condemned to death. During the lecture, you will be able to learn about executioners from ancient times to the present day and their methods of work. How did their status in society change? What were their duties and how did the recruitment for executioners look like? Who deals with it today and what are the methods of execution in different parts of the world. Renata Kuryłowicz, founder of Bag of Bones, will talk about these issues and more.
Event for adults only.
