After nearly two decades of delivering productions from top artists in the drum & bass scene, Critical Music label founder Kasra Mowlavi has become one of the most respected figures among fans of broken electronica. With a professional background in the wider music industry, working in artist management and marketing, Kasra founded his first label at the age of just 15, influenced by a passion for American punk and alternative publishing. His enthusiasm for publishing as an art form meant that Kasra's early years running Critical focused on the quality and details of running a major label in the digital age. As the label became a stable home and a proper platform for an increasingly diverse collective of artists from around the world, Kasra took time for his own name to join the esteemed ranks of these producers. This required building confidence in his own artistic abilities, and thus to release records alongside some of the most technically gifted producers on the scene.
