Do classical music and jazz represent two utterly divergent worlds, or can they inspire, complement, and influence one another? Can a classically trained composer/pianist write a brilliant jazz piece and also interpret it in this essence with excellence? The program of this concert, prepared by pianist Karel Košárek, will try to answer these and many other questions. Karel Košárek has the reputation of a pianist with an extraordinary scope of concert activities; he is also in high demand as a chamber musician. He works with famous orchestras and leading Czech singers, especially Magdalena Kožená, Roman Janál, or Soňa Červená, and he accompanies renowned instrumentalists the likes of Jiří Bárta or Radek Baborák. Another prestigious project in collaboration with the Škampa Quartet at Prague Spring saw him perform Shostakovich’s Piano Quintet in G minor.
