Just Between Us: Rudy Linka & Gil Goldstein
Rudy Linka and Gil Goldstein will perform their musical dialogue Just Between Us in the Spanish Hall at Prague Castle on 15 October at 7:30pm.
"Just Between Us" is a musical dialogue between two musicians who need no introduction to the world of improvised music, where jazz, classical and folk music mix with a sense of melody and rhythm.
Rudy Linka, born in 1960 in Prague, is a jazz guitarist and composer. He fled communist Czechoslovakia for Sweden in 1980 and was awarded the prestigious Jim Hall Scholarship to Berklee College of Music in Boston in 1985 and The New School in New York a year later. Rudy has performed and recorded with John Scofield, Paul Motion, Jon Batiste and was voted one of the 10 best jazz guitarists by Down Beat magazine.
Gil Goldstein, born in 1950 in Baltimore, USA, is a jazz pianist, composer and arranger. He has won five Grammy Awards and has been nominated eight times. He studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston and the University of Miami. Since 1973 Gil has performed with the legendary Pat Martino and Lee Konitz. In the 1980s he was the arranger for the legendary Gil Evans Orchestra and worked with Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter, Billy Cobham, Jim Hall, Pat Metheny and many others.
