Dance music night, dub rave with Japanese DJ collective and WaqWaq Kingdom duo. Performance Waq Waq is a psychedelic mixture of Japanese traditional music with Jamaican dancehall, dub, techno and indigenous polyrhythm of Nintendo soundtracks. Their lyrics and visualizations refer to shintoist mythology and matsuri festivals, which pay homage to the local gods “Kama-sama”. Waq Waq to: Kiki Hitomi is the singer and songwriter of King Midas Sound (Ninja Tune), Black Chow, Japanese dubstep duo Dokkebi Q and NoinoNoinoNoino. Shigeru Ishihara is known primarily as DJ Scotch Egg, a breakcore-gameboy legend, as well as for his bass playing in Seefeel (Warp Records), Devilman and Small But Hard Records. In addition to sound production, he runs the Samurai Spoon restaurant, making the best Okonomiyaki in Berlin. Apart from WaqWaq’s concert, the night will feature the biggest Japanese hits: 60’s to 80’s pop hits, enka, electro-pop, reggae, dub, minyou and Japanese hip-hop. support will be played by Warsaw’s DJ Nintendoom.
