Jana Semerádová

The transverse flute player Jana Semerádová is a graduate of the Prague Conservatory, the Faculty of Philosophy, Charles University (Theory and Practice of Early Music), and the Royal Conservatory in the Hague, the Netherlands (class of Wilbert Hazelzet). She is a laureate of the Magdeburg and Munich international competitions.

Jana Semerádová is the artistic director of the Collegium Marianum ensemble, music programmer of the concert series Baroque Evenings and the international music festival Summer Festivities of Early Music. She is intensively engaged in research activities in Czech and foreign archives and in the study of Baroque gesture, declamation and dance. She recorded many CDs, not only with Collegium Marianum, but also her two profile CDs Solo for the King and Chaconne for the Princess. Jana Semerádová has performed on major European stages (Bachfest Leipzig, Musikfestspiele Potsdam Sanssouci, Centre de musique baroque de Versailles, Konzerthaus in Vienna and Berlin, Vratislavia Cantans, Palau de la Música Catalana, etc.). As a soloist, she has collaborated with M. Kožená, S. Azzolini, A. Bernardini and E. Onofri and regularly performs with the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Il suonar parlante, Wrocławska Orkiestra Barokowa, Orkiestra Historyczna and Ars Antiqua Austria. In 2015 she received an associate professorship in flute at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. In 2019 she received the Prague Group Award of the Society for Sciences and Arts and a year later she was nominated for the the Czech Academy of Music Award “Anděl” for the CD Chaconne for a Princess together with Erich Traxler.
