The British synth wizard James Holden and the Polish clarinet guru Waclaw Zimpel met in the summer of 2018 for an improvisation session with the guitarist Jakub Ziołek in the former London Studio. Their goal was to complete one track a day – in a kind of lyrical conversation between alto clarinet and modular synthesizer. In the end there was an excellent cooperation between two true masters of their instruments, whose different paths intersect here in the mutual love for hypnotic and trancassonic sounds.
Holden & Zimpel present their ‘love’ live – the 4-track EP Long Weekend has also been released on Holdens Border Community label, which records the process described on sound carriers.
