Jakub König

Singer-songwriter Jakub König hails from Česká Lípa, where he founded the band Obří broskev in 1994. During 17 years of its existence, the band released three records before it quietly fell asleep. In 2011, Kittchen, a chef in disguise, came to life again. What began as a singer-songwriter project gradually grew into a full-fledged band, praised by critics and listeners alike. The second of their 4 records, Radio, won the Anděl Award in 2013. In 2016, König founded the band Zvíře jménem Podzim, made of distinctive musicians of the Czech alternative scene. The band quickly became a sought-after performer and its second record, Září, won two Anděl Awards in 2019. Jakub König's solo concerts draw on the repertoire of the three above mentioned bands. No matter if it is a classical “singer-songwriter” performance with acoustic guitar or an ambient set full of rolling noise walls, minimalistic electronics or a mix of improvisation and reading out loud from one of the books. Quietly or loudly. Darkly or gently. Whatever fits the time, the place and the mood.
