Ivan Hlas

Ivan Hlas (born May 10, 1954 in Prague) is a well-known Czech singer-songwriter and musician, who became famous mainly for his songs for the film Sakalí léta, for which he received the Czech Lion for Best Music in 1993.

He learned to play the guitar at a primary art school under M. Mizera. In 1968 he founded the school band The Mice and in 1971, together with Jan Veleba, Žízeň. Later he founded and led the bands Navi Papaya, Továrna (new wave) and Ivan Hlas a Nahlas. He also played with the Yo Yo Band and Ondrej Heima. Currently he performs with Norbi Kovacs and Olin Nejezchleba in Ivan Hlas Trio.
