Insania
Insania is a thrash metal / hardcore punk band from Brno, Czech Republic, founded in 1987.
Insania still fluctuates between hardcore and metal. After a few gigs and the release of the demo Possessed by Insania in 1988, the band was brought down by the Brno StB, who saw the satanic lyrics as a call for resistance against the system. Insania went underground and continued to operate under the masked name Skimmed, under which they released the LP New Insanity in 1990, one of the first independent albums in the then Czechoslovakia. In 1992, founding member Poly reformed Insania in a new line-up with drummer BlackDrum, slowing the pace and venturing musically into darker waters, influenced at the time by nature mysticism and J.R.R. Tolkien. Insania is a cult in the domestic hard alternative scene. During its existence, Insania has won the Anděl Award three times, and a number of awards have also come from the rock-oriented Břitva poll, including inclusion in the "Gallery of Legends".
