Hořovice (nový zámek)
The state chateau Hořovice is called new because there are two chateaus in Hořovice. The old chateau is located about 200 m from the new one in a westerly direction on a rocky promontory above the Červený brook. Its location reveals that it was originally a manor house. The first written mention of it dates back to 1233, when the estate was owned by the Lords of Žirotín.
In 2002, the grounds of the Hořovice State Chateau were declared a National Cultural Monument. The castle is managed by the National Heritage Institute.
