During the first Girls to the Front event in 2020 there will also be karaoke. Girls encourage to queue their favourite songs, camping performances and sing feminist hits together. The event will be opened by a concert of Di Libe brent wi a nase Szmate, as well as some challenges and competitions.
Di Libe brent wi a nase Szmate is a queer music and comedy project set in the atmosphere of Polish interwar period. They create it: Maja Luxenberg called Pompa – Galician singer and performer. She invents longing-for melodies, plays the accordion, jokes, parties and improvises. Łaja Szkło – a legendary lyricist from Zgierz. Sometimes she goes on holiday to Łódź, sometimes she comes to a concert to make one-person choirs. The repertoire of the Pompa – Szkło duo is dominated by queer songs about passing away, love, politics and living conditions in Łódź… Pre-war melodies and criminal stories, folk and Jewish themes, nostalgic and cabaret, make up a surprising, over an hour long programme full of laughter and tears.
