Gazino Night

Gazinos, those were legendary nights with lots of live music, dancing and raki. And even more: it was an attitude towards life that brought people together from an Istanbul on the move, also in Berlin in the 80s.

In the series GAZİNO NIGHT, the spirit of the Gazinos is brought to new life in the hall of the Heimathafen. Here, girlfriends, families and table neighbors sing and dance to Turkish and German hits – and that infects everyone and anyone!

Hosts of the evenings are the two greats of the Berlin music scene Aziza A. and Turgay Ayaydınlı. With GAZİNO NIGHT, they translate the spirit of a traditional gazinos into a contemporary form. They bridge the gap between the glamorous times of Istanbul and the new beginnings in Berlin of the so-called guest worker generation to today's polyphonic music scene of musicians* with Turkish roots living in Berlin. Guest appearances of always new great soloists and hip dancers may not be missing of course on a GAZİNO evening, just as little as Raki, beer and wine.
