The Holešovice Power Station or Centrála, at the time of its creation officially called the Central Electric Station of the Royal Capital of Prague, is an industrial complex in Prague's Holešovice district. It is located in the area between Za elektrárnou, Partyzánská and Holešovická přeložka streets, passing along the Vltava River. The Prague Exhibition Centre, the Prague-Holešovice railway station and the Nádraží Holešovice metro station are located nearby. The power plant was built between 1898 and 1900 by the Electric Companies of the City of Prague, primarily as a source of electricity for the operation of its tram lines. A tram depot was located on the premises. The railway siding is connected to the northern head of Prague-Bubny station. The preserved buildings of the original power station have been protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic since 2002.
