Venue description

The married couple Elke And Arno Morenz started to collect art, right after they got married in 1968. A particular fascination and curiousness about the French art movement Lettrism, shaped their collection into this direction immensely. After Elke Morenz’ sudden death, Arno Morenz moved the collection to Berlin in 2011 to make it accessible for a wider audience and communicate the concept and ideology of the Lettrist movement. Since 2013 the collection is exhibited publicly in Berlin.

The Elke and Arno Morenz Collection focuses since the 1960s on early work of Lettrisme and International Lettristes as well as spin-off movements Affichistes and International Situationnists. The Collection comprises approximately 200 works of painting, photography, sculpture, drawing, lithography, film and music. It also includes a large number of books, documents, letters, exhibition catalogues, manifestos and avant-garde magazines.
