Future Soundscapes Festival 2022

The Future Soundscape Festival will take place from September 22 to 25, 2022 in the Silent Green Cultural Quarter, in the Dome and Concrete Hall (Kuppel- und Betonhalle). The program includes various concerts, performances, installations, as well as talks around the topics of the future and science fiction.

What does the future sound like? The Future Soundscapes Festival 2022 invites you to an audiovisual journey through time: Over the course of four festival days, artists from the fields of music, media art and sound art will explore the history and present of science fiction sound between pop culture, music and cinema.

While the narratives and images of the sci-fi genre are already omnipresent and firmly anchored in the collective memory, Future Soundscapes makes it possible to experience sound as an essential element in the design of future worlds – be it as noise, sound or music. The audiovisual performances lead from dystopian film soundtracks and posthuman sound installations to experimental electronic music that ventures into unexplored sound worlds. Workshops and talks question the history and aesthetics of futuristic sound, as well as contemporary sound phenomena, trace acoustic clichés, and search for sonic futures between dystopia and utopia.
