Spectacle of the Powszechny Theatre based on the novel "Flights" by Olga Tokarczuk
Tokarczuk's book won the Nike literary award and the Booker International Award. It is a rich collection of seemingly unrelated stories, both contemporary and historical. Tokarczuk observes people on the move and people who strive to immobilize life through the age-old practice of body mummification. Michał Zadara, winner of the Politics passport and the Konrad Swinarski Award, finds in Biegunach an innovative way of telling a story, allowing to describe human experience in an authentic way. Olga Tokarczuk described, says the director, a life that gives a chance to capture meaning, but this chance disappears, and we melt in chaos again. But this chance was, and continues to lead us through chaos, with the hope that somewhere, at the end of the pilgrimage, we will find answers.
