Flapjack
The Poznań, Poland band Flapjack was formed in 1993 by Robert "Litza" Friedrich and Maciej "Ślimak" Starosta, members of the legendary crossover thrash group Acid Drinkers, who decided to bring NY hardcore and rapcore influences to the new project; the lineup was completed by vocalist Grzegorz "Guzik" Guzinski. At the height of their popularity in the 1990s, they released two classic albums, Ruthless Kick and Fairplay, and played opening slots for bands like Faith No More and Dog Eat Dog. In 1997, Flapjack released Juicy Planet Earth, which received a polarized fan reaction: with the band moving toward more dissonance and psychedelia, experimenting with influences from the then nascent nu metal and even trip hop. The following years brought limited group activity and personnel turnover – Flapjack did not return to publishing activity until 2012 with the album Keep Your Heads Down. Guzinski died in 2021; his place in the lineup was taken by vocalists Jakub "Kroto" Krotofil and Rafal "Hau" Mirocha, and DJ Eprom. With this lineup, Flapjack released its latest album, 2023's Fryderyk Award-winning Sugar Free.
