ffortissibros

The male chamber choir ffortissibros was founded at the J. W. von Goethe School of Music in Schwerin. In 2019, when it was founded, it was the youngest and only choir from northern Germany to participate in the Limburg Festival of Male Choirs, where it won a gold diploma and a special prize for the best interpretation of a romantic choral work. In the same year Benedikt Kantert took over as music director. At the end of April 2022, ffortissibros took part in the world's largest male choral competition, the Cornwall International Male Choral Festival, and won first place in the category and overall. Benedikt Kantert was also named the best conductor of the competition. This was followed in 2023 by the success of first place at the 11th German Choral Competition in Hannover. For its cultural activities, the ensemble was awarded the Mecklenburg-Schwerin Savings Bank Foundation Award for Arts and Culture and a place in the Golden Book of the City of Schwerin.

The ensemble is also distinguished by its busy concert programme at home and abroad and has repeatedly performed at renowned concert venues such as the Berlin Philharmonic, the Gewandhaus and St. Thomas Church in Leipzig. Performances at festivals such as the Anima Mundi at the Duomo di Pisa and the Greifswald Bach Week complete the concert calendar. In 2024 the ensemble will be part of the Young Elite concert series of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival.
