New Empathies: In Some Sense

Lecture, concert, dance performance: In Some Sense, the latest collaboration between dancer-choreographer Tilman O'Donnell and guitarist Mikkel Ploug, allows music, dance, language and philosophy to overlap. Following the contours of the lecture From Logic To Anthropology by the French philosopher Alain Badiou - with whom O'Donnell has been intensively engaged artistically for several years - In Some Sense translates their key concepts into a musical score and choreographic research. Badiou's language patterns, which are deeply musical, seem to impose themselves on the compositional exploration. Guitarist Mikkel Ploug takes them as the basis of his composition, in order to expand and transform them musically in part. The rhythm of Badioug's ideas also influences the choreographic structure of the piece.

In Some Sense explores the possibility of a new subjective body that is at once alien to itself and the viewer. In the context of the stage and its aesthetic rules, the limits of doing and perceiving, dancing and watching are questioned in a dialectical act.

With New Empathies, radialsystem started a series of programs in June 2019, which will approach the possibilities of a practice of the empathic in concerts, installations, choreographic works, workshops and conversations over a period of two years and will shed light on its potential in relation to artistic, technological, political and ecological questions.

Advance booking starts on 14 August at 10 am. Performances begin at 8 pm.
