Historical Stereovision

The luminary panorama (stereovision) is a slide viewing device that can be used by as many as 25 viewers at once. It creates a notion of three-dimensional images through the use of optical principles and laws. Luminary panorama was a favorite attraction at the end of 19th and beginning of the 20th century. It was the forerunner of today’s biograph. This device belonging to TMB is one of the last remaining originals capable of operation in Europe. The stereoslides are changed every month. The exposition is held in spirit of secession and post-secession which was the period when the panorama used to operate. Documentation about the development of stereoscopy that includes explanation of its principles and usage is an important part of the exhibition as well.
