Eddie Henderson

The eminent trumpeter Eddie Henderson had his first trumpet lesson at the age of 9 at Luis Armstrong himself. As a teenager, he studied the trumpet at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Miles Davis, who, being a friend of the family, was delighted with the sound of his trumpet and musicality - he told his career on the stage. And it was natural that Miles had the greatest influence on his musical path. He gained fame by performing in the sextet of Herbie Hancock, then he toured extensively and recorded, among others, with Art. Blakey's Jazz Messenger, Deutger Gordon, Roy Haynes, Joe Henderson, Johnny Griffin and McCoy Tyner.
