Dział Etnograficzny Muzeum Ziemi Augustowskiej
The Augustów Land Museum was established in 1973. In its collections it has 1463 museum items, including 808 ethnographic items and 16 deposits. The most valuable are: a document confirming the rights of suburban residents of Augustów, signed by King Stanisław August Poniatowski in 1792, and a folder of manuscripts with Ignacy Prądzyński's notes of 1823-1824. The institution conducts popular and educational activities, cooperating with schools (museum lessons and competitions), the State Archive in Suwałki, museum institutions of the region, and the Augustów-Suwałki Scientific Society. It runs a library, collecting mainly regional materials, which are used by interested persons. The inventory counts 1895 volumes, including "white ravens", 2581 units of scattered materials. It collects and digitizes views of Augustów and its surroundings. It has a collection of press documentation. Apart from strictly museum documentation, the museum keeps an iconographic file, a bibliographic file of the Augustów Canal and a bio-bibliographic file of publications by Augustów residents.
